“Lorem” is a short Latin word that is part of the commonly used placeholder text “Lorem Ipsum” in design and publishing industries. This text is used to visually demonstrate graphic and layout elements without the distraction of actual content. The text is essentially gibberish and has been used since the 1500s. It was first used in a type specimen book by printer Aldus Manutius. Today, “Lorem Ipsum” remains popular among designers and publishers as a reliable way to showcase a design without the need for meaningful text. It’s also used by developers as filler text during website development.
