On Friday, January 22, 2021, the U.N. treaty on the prohibition of #NuclearWeapons went into effect, having been ratified by at least 51 countries. The treaty on the prohibition of Nuclear weapons (TPNW) is now part of international law. Nepal signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty on September 20, 2017, but the ban treaty still awaits ratification by the parliament where 51 countries have already ratified the treaty. Sitting in between the nuclear power houses, Nepal needs to understand the effect and abolition of the nuclear weapons. FNB Nepal as an International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) campaigner and anti-nuclear activist, has hosted a consultation among delegates to understand the current situation and progress of the government on the ratification commitment.
