On March 11th, Forum for Nation Building (FNB) Nepal organized National Conference on evaluation and prospects of reconstruction, which focused on the overall situation and possibilities of ongoing reconstruction of Nepal. The conference hosted 109 participants where they directly interacted with the concerned stakeholders of reconstruction who were invited as the chief guest of the program. The chief guests involved delegates from National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), Nepal Bankers Association, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Federation and Guthi Corporation where as the special guest involved Mr. Sher Bahadur Tamang, former Minister at Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. Likewise the conference also invited Mayor and Deputy Mayor from various municipalities and rural municipalities. The other participants of the conference were lawyers, law students and officials of FNB Nepal who were mobilized under the project activities of the organization. At the beginning, Mr. Suman Neupane in capacity of Program Coordinator at FNB Nepal facilitated a brief presentation regarding the background information, functioning model and experience of the organization working in the field of the reconstruction. During the conference, the participants were provided with the opportunity to interact and put questions of ambiguities relating to the reconstruction. The interaction approach to the conference resulted to be effective as the participants could share their problems and seek for clarifications directly from the delegates of concerned stakeholders of reconstruction. The serious issues of reconstruction of private housing involving grant distribution, loan mechanism, beneficiary identification, landless, vulnerable population, role of local level government, grievance mechanism. Likewise, the issues of reconstruction of cultural heritages were also put in light by the participants. The delegates from concerned stakeholders as keynote speakers provided their answers to the questions put front by the participants and also noted the serious issues raised during the course of the program for further advocacy relating to reconstruction. The conference formally ended as the lawyers, law students and contributors associated with project were provided with certificate of recognition by Mr. Sher Bahadur Tamang for their valuable contribution through the project phase.
