Community Mobile Clinic Devitar, Kavrepalanchowk

Community mobile clinic against domestic violence was organized on 13 August 2016. The clinic was setup on the shop of one local person situated at Devitar, ward no. 9 Kavrepalanchowk. Social mobilizer was mobilized in the locality to attach posters in different places, to inform about the mobile clinic to locals and to coordinate with shopkeeper regarding the program. A team encompassing Team Leader, Lawyer, Psychology student and Social mobilizer together established the clinic. Total 36 Participants of which twenty-seven female and nine male ranging from age fifteen to Sixty two from marginalized Tamang community got participated in the mobile clinic. Firstly, the formal opening and interactive legal and psychosocial literacy was conducted for two hours, followed by Individual legal and psychosocial counseling. In the first session Mr. Nirmal Kumar Upreti, President of FNB Nepal highlighted the objectives of the program along with the brief introduction of organization. He also emphasized the existent trend of domestic violence found in different parts of Nepal and other Developing Nation. It was followed by an informative and interactive session taken by Avocate Santosh K.C who made clarity on the term ‘Domestic Violence’, its types, Laws on domestic violence, Legal provision for victims and punishment for offenders in their local language. In addition, Mr. Upreti introduced examples of different cases of domestic violence in Nepalese context. He encouraged participants to read the information on book distributed in the clinic. As most of the participants were illiterate, they were suggested to give that book to their children who go to school and learn more things from them.
