FNB Nepal conducted local government training to the local representatives of Panchpokhari and Sangachowkgadi municipality, Sindhupalchowk from 13th to 15th September where 28 participants (22 male and 6 female) participated the event. The training aimed to enhance the capacity and leadership capability of the local representatives. The participants were provided training on legal provisions regarding functioning of local government, Mediation and its stages, laws regarding the reconstruction of infrastructures of affected by the earthquake, law making process at local level, Criminal and Civil Code and its procedure, Federalism and its constitutional provision, role of judicial committee at local level, financial mechanism of local government, jurisdiction and priorities of local government, leadership development for local representatives and other imperative sessions backed by practical approach and group interaction. Participants put forward the problems of their locality relating to procedure complexity in receiving government grant. Most of the representatives had question regarding the nature of cases that they can resolve through mediation. All the queries on confusion and functional difficulties were solved by the resource person. Participants appreciated FNB and requested to organize similar type of event in future which support them in function of their regular work effectively. The training supported the local representatives in functioning of their duties effectively and developing their locality by formulating GEWE and SI (gender equality, women empowerment and social inclusion) policy friendly.
